Ice skating at intu Braehead Arena

A major failure of the refrigeration plant in The Arena at intu Braehead has meant the ice has melted overnight on Tuesday 27 March and unfortunately, we have been forced to halt all skating activities with immediate effect.

We apologise to our customers and we’re contacting our ice skating and skate school customers who have pre booked tickets with us to organise refunds and we will be contacting our local user groups individually to advise them of the situation.

Engineers are still investigating the cause of the refrigeration plant failure and even after we had sourced necessary replacement equipment, or machinery parts it would take ten days to re-instate the ice.

The ice rink was due to close at the end of the season, on April 15 and it is not feasible that we would open again before then.
